JP Wogaman II

(b. 1994) is an American composer, producer, performer, and technology enthusiast whose career bridges classical, film, and contemporary music. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in McLean, VA, JP's musical journey began with the trumpet, which he studied along with composition at the University of Michigan School of Music. His diverse influences include iconic film composers like John Williams, John Powell, and Hans Zimmer, rock and pop legends such as Daft Punk and Bruno Mars, and classical masters like Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland. JP's style is also deeply shaped by his experience in musical theater, where he played trumpet in the pits for productions of "Sweeney Todd" and "Les Misérables."

JP’s breakout engagement was his arrangement of Strauss Waltzes for The Washington Ballet, in collaboration with renowned choreographer Trey McIntyre. Shortly after, he showcased his skill as both a composer and pianist by performing his work MET.AMOR.PHOSY, choreographed by Mimmo Miccolis, live at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC.

His work in film includes scoring the feature films Sweet Dreams, directed by Alvin Gray, and There Is A Monster, directed by Michael Taylor. In 2023, JP was a featured speaker on the "Music + Movies Panel" at the “DC Shorts International Film Festival” and in 2024, he returned to the festival as composer of official selection The Wychwood Cycle, directed by Robert Kendzie.

In addition to his musical achievements, JP is passionate about technology and programming, working with open-source projects to design touch-screen interfaces for optimized music production workflows. He even built his own website, this website, from scratch.

JP lives in Arlington, VA with his wife, Lin and their dog, Daisy. You can find JP on social media @wogamusic, and his music is on most streaming platforms under JP Wogaman II.
